Most modern weddings have many common features such as bottles of bubbles to be blown on the bride and groom as they exit the church or leave for their honeymoon, chocolate fountains in which guests dip fruit and treats, and thousands of rose petals scattered on tables, walkways, and even in the flower girl’s basket.
In fact, rose petals are such a common wedding day requirement that they are available year round in an amazing array of colors and styles. There are organic petals, multiple colored and seasonal mixes, and even custom mixtures too. They are usually shipped approximately two days before the event and packed especially to withstand the passing of time before they are used. They will not wilt in their special bags and boxes and will retain their fresh colors and aromas throughout the entire wedding day.
Why do people use rose petals? While they are a truly lovely accent for such areas as those mentioned above, they are also a great way of further demonstrating the color or design scheme for the wedding and also a way of creating a stronger floral effect without an enormous expense.
For instance, if the bridal party is dressed in various shades of peach or salmon pink, and the floral arrangements and decorations are also of the same hues, using rose petals of such shades will really “fill” the area with the color. Imagine the traditional three or four tiered wedding cake in its delicate white icing set on a table covered in a white linen cloth. While the bride and groom may have asked for the peach accents of their theme to be included in the icing, the color can really be made to “pop” by sprinkling a hefty number of rose petals around it on the tabletop.
Rose petals add a strong floral feeling and many accents of color without a tremendous amount of expense. Their light fragrance can also help to create a romantic atmosphere as well.
